Back to Austria - the last entry to this blog and final documents

I am safely back and it was good fun travelling in Moldova and Transnistira
Some final documents of this trip

The souvenir of Transnistria rubels not acceptable and exchangeable anywhere else. I really like the fact that on the 5 rubel bill of Transnistira a picture of the brandy factory Kvint in Tiraspol can be seen - most probably the only bill in the world were a brandy factory can be seen on a backside of a bill.
Above you can see the description how to find the appartment including the illustration of the elevator and the issue pressing the button 9 for the eights floor.
Colour printed business card of the vice- rector of the technical university in Chisinau - hand-cut
And finally
Believe it or not in Tiraspol every Trolleybus has free wifi - I could easily connect with my phone to the hotspot "Trolleybus 253" - something to be developed in the western countries as well - take care

Morning stroll around the town

I woke up early today since I had only have a day left and the weather was much better today and I still wanted to catch some curiosities in this town.
First I had to take some pictures of the great Jupiter bar
The view from my kitchen window
The Jupiter - not any longer non-stop but fully stop
Still some old buildings remain between the new rising appartment blocks
This sign raised again a philosophical question - if the opening times are infinite - meaning they will never end - then why do you need to display an opening time at all - but this is most probably a too theoretical approach of this matter
Anyhow it was closed this morning
Cosmetics and beauty is a great topic in this country but this poster is really heavy - it is this kind of before - after comparison - but the result looks like .......
So if you planning your Hollywood career come to chisinau for a lift of your style
At the meat hall of the central market

Stefan cel Mare in the sunshine

The ending of the Palm Sunday ceremony in the central church

The art market in the Center
High heels are a favourite in town
The name of the city is also the name of the best beer - easy to remember even after some beers....
Rules are strikt in Moldova if you want to eat
No stabbing, no guns, no dogs, no smoking and beware if you enter the pub being unhappy - you will be kicked out immediately
The last picture of my trip in Moldova - A Tupulew 134 airplane of air Moldowa at the airport - so happy I fly back with an Airbus

Searching for Saturday night fever in chisinau

Well after the full day of sightseeing I took a short break before I wanted to figure out the evening possibilities on Saturday night in Chisinau.
I started in the beer house finishing my blog with a really good unfiltered weissbier the German style and after I finished the blog surprisingly a second glass was empty too. My next planned stop was the bar Jupiter in the Hotel Cosmos - see pictures of the bar on the next entry - I really like the combination of names - could it be that Jupiter leads the cosmos instead of Zeus - well this is getting to philosophical I guess - anyhow I heard great stories about bad karaoke shows and a big bullish Russian owner, but the bar was sadly closed and empty as I figured out the next day - probably mismanagement with too many shots on the house I guess.
Sad about this loss I made my way to the next bar - the army bar - better known as tank-bar - it is very simple it is a garden where all the unused artillery and other ammunition can be found and it creates a quit irrational feeling drinking there - however closed as well - does not look to good for this night - since the clock was already approaching 11 pm.
Well the last stop I planned in was a place called déjà vu - an underground dance floor with crazy stories about the barkeepers there.
I entered the place and it was nearly empty - no good start/end of this evening. However I had my beer there and the barkeeper started playing throwing the shaker and bottles around, rolling them over his arms - so it was a pretty good show drinking the beer aside.
Around 12 pm suddenly people started to pour in - probably a mouse hole somewhere I must have missed - and now the party started people dancing to too loud music and the evening was saved.
The best however was the way of making vodka Lemmon. As we all know from James Bond it is essential how to serve the vodka - stirred or shacked - here the shacked style is preferred - but in a way you would never expect. It goes like this.
A girl bought a shot from the bar man and then this happened beside me seat.
The two persons beside me had to move and a cushion was placed on the bar - then the girl was helped up to the bar and had to knee down on the bar. The bar man then stood on the bar and filled the girl vodka from two bottles into the open mouth - she was not allowed to swallow this right away - then the bar man took a Lemmon in his mouth and came closer to the girls mouth with the Lemmon - just before the lips met he squeezed the Lemmon into her mouth. So now we have vodka Lemmon - let's shake. And that is what he did - he closed her mouth and took her on her head and shacked it wild around - then she was allowed to swollow - vodka Lemmon shacked but not stirred the Moldavian way.
This was a good end of the search of Saturday night fever in Chisinau

First day in Chisinau

It was feeling pretty good not having toworry about the car this morning - I was about to stroll around Chisinau on my own today
And document the most appealing sights here - 50 years of Moldovian tourismn ??? Infront of the great Soviet hotel national - it was one of the best in town - it was...

Not any longer although you can still see the marble on the concrete columns of the entrance hall
- I didn't go up in the building - never know who is there
Hotel Chisinau on the other side looks more appealing
Two street dogs wet after the rain infront of a supermarket

Eat to got - drink to go - no comment to go
Free wifi painted on the street and it really works
People at a local lottery draw
Restaurant Tibilisi in an old factory
Posh meets substandard
Collective painting in the city centre
Reading is only allowed in Moldova having animals aside you - the give you the Inspiration
The friendly looking townhall

At the bus stop: the weather cannot be too cold for high heels and short skirts
Footwear in Chisinau
The main city parc
The bar status - with a questionable status

The House of Parliament

And the presidential palace that was destroyed partly by the revolution in 2009 and never opened up to the public

The five star hotel that still will need some more time to get the five stars awarded...

The rock n eat bar the should be open 24/24 but was closed at noon - probably everybody was sleeping - will try in the evening
The friendly locking chamber of commerce
Geometric soviet patterns
Then I had a really curios experience I passerby the technical university of Moldova and was inspire by the great showcases outside

Brand new equipment in use ....
And the list how to inscribe to the university
So I thought I should have a look inside of the building and I did
I entered the building when two old ladies started to shout at me - in Romanian - I answered politely in English - we both did not understand anything- it was a big mess - and I could suppose that I should not be here - but I stayed - then the vice rector of the university was coming down talking French to me - not much better - he went up with me to a class - and called the other vice rector out of a class room - she could speak English and she organised a student that translate for me an the vice rector in his office where 6 other bachelor students were doing an exam - really a weird situation. So we had a good time discussing about the offerings of the university and the students and Vlad, the student offerd me to show me some secret places of the city after he finished his lecture -  great stuff.
So I learned about the people that are for a unification with Romania - he is against that

Learned to know the sight where the parachute trainings took place ( the tower in the picture)

And was guided so the parks of Chisnau

And the secret local sport facilities
The inspiring Luna park
And the children's house of the ministry of culture
All in all a great day with many new inspirations about this place - time for an evening beer
